Half-term Holiday Family Fun

Not long to go now until the October half-term holidays and this year is doubly exciting with Halloween falling in the same week – lots of reasons to get the family out and about to enjoy what’s on offer for kids and parents alike.
If you’re looking for some inspiration for how to enjoy the half-term with your family, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve been searching the internet up and down the country to find out about some of the coolest and most enjoyable activities for all the family to enjoy this October half-term.
But don’t expect this to be a definitive guide, it’s just a little pot of ideas to get you going – if you like the idea of going to the theatre with your children but don’t live near London, don’t despair, I’m sure there’s a theatre near you that will have some fun lined up for the half-term holidays.

The London theatres are packed with shows to entertain and enchant kids of all ages (and parents of course) and if you’re lucky enough to live near enough to enjoy the offerings of the capital, then check out the comprehensive Time Out guide to see what’s on offer during the half-term break.
Another great rainy day option (and let’s face it, it’s bound to be raining on more than one day in the holidays I’m sure!) is to head to a museum for the day. Again, if you live in the London area, the choices are endless with something for all the family whatever your age and interests, but why not check out your local town to see if they’re organising something special for kids during the holidays? For families in the Midlands, there’s a huge choice of child-friendly museums which will inform and entertain all the family when the rain decides to stop play – the question is whether you’ll have enough time to enjoy them all!Brick-or-Treat
If the rain stays away why not consider taking your little monsters to the ever-popular Legoland this October half-term? Let your kids experience the special Halloween ‘Brick or Treat’ event with all the usual awesome fun rides and attractions, plus the spectacular fireworks display portraying an epic pyrotechnic battle between the heroes and the evil villain.

I thought this might be a fun outing too for families who are within easy reach of Winchester – chance for your dinosaur-mad kids to play the time detective on the fascinating children’s trail through Winchester Cathedral.

And if they still need to work off some energy how about checking out a kids roller-disco near you? There’s a great kids play centre near Manchester that has roller discos for youngsters aged 4 to 12. Roller disco
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my holiday days out blog and have got some good ideas for how you and your family can have fun during October half-term. Look out for my Halloween-inspired blog coming soon..
That’s all for now folks!

Stars like Tess Daly & Vernon Kay, Ricky & Melivin from Kiss Fm, Laura Whitmore and Steph and Dom from Google Box are just a few of the stars that have got behind the fun of ‘Make Your Face Funny for Money’ campaign.

Once members of the public have made their face funny for money, they can take a selfie. They can text funny to 70011 to donate £1. Comic Relief will reply to the text with a link that people can use to send over their photo and they could appear in the Red Nose Day campaign!

Dermot O’Leary will bust out his best moves in an extraordinary fundraising feat this Red Nose Day, as he dances non-stop for a staggering 24 hours! Dermot’s Day of Dance for Comic Relief will start on The One Show, BBC One on Thursday 12th March. Dermot will boogie his way through the night and all of the next day, with BBC Radio 2 following his every side-step.

Comedian Mark Watson took on an epic endurance effort for Red Nose Day – Mark Watson’s 27-Hour Comedy Marathon. The event took place at London’s Pleasance Theatre on Friday 27th February, Mark’s epic marathon was streamed live on YouTube across the UK. Members of the public joined Mark to raise as much money as possible by taking on their own fundraising challenge at the same time.

Screenshot 2015-03-12 13.29.03Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman called on the nation to take part in the first ever Comic Relief Danceathon last Sunday.

The six hour non-stop dance frenzy took place at The SSE Arena, Wembley and in locations across the country – all to raise money for Red Nose Day. Claudia was joined by a host of stars and the UK’s dance glitterati, including some familiar faces from the dance world; Arlene Phillips, Chelsee Healey, Rachel Riley, Rufus Hound and Zoe Ball, BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley and Got to Dance’s Adam Garcia and Kimberly Wyatt.

The Great Comic Relief Bake Off makes a star-studded return as 16 celebrity bakers, including Abbey Clancy, Gok Wan and Jonathan Ross, try to raise as much dough as possible for Red Nose Day. Over four weeks, episodes featured four celebrities putting their signature, technical and showstopper bakes under the spotlight of top judges, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, in a bid to be crowned Comic Relief Star Baker. Presenters Mel Giedroyc, Jo Brand, Ed Byrne and Sue Perkins each hosted a show in the four-part series giving viewers a taste of the action at home.

If you missed all the baking fun, then catch up on BBC I Player now!

Here’s some of the great ways that all the money raised gets distributed:

The Mini-U Bath Bomb Story

You know how the saying goes “Time flies when you’re having fun!” Indeed it does!

Mini-U Bath-time has already celebrated it’s 1st birthday and like any new enterprise we are always looking to grow and for us that means bringing our customers even more bath time inspiration.
Meet the bath bombs in slider-01
The Mini-U bath bomb family started out with our 3 fun characters, Bang Fizzy POW bath bomb for Super Heros, Bang Fizzy WOW Bath bomb for Princesses and Bang Fizzy Whizz bath bomb for Whizz kids. Our popular trio are created with different scents and colours, and include a hidden sponge toy surprise; and we guarantee the element of surprise because we change the sponge toy with every batch!.

Due to popular demand, we decided the family needed some new members so we quickly set to work on the creation of new recipes and characters to join the crew. Time to introduce…

To say our new friends have been a hit would be an under statement; our Little Monkey and Mini Monster have been whizzing around baths all over the UK, adding fun and laughter to bath time adventures leaving no room for any more boring bath times!

Remember to check our great bumper Bath Bomb packs which are a perfect party bag filler and mean you can save money too!

We are always looking at new ideas for the Mini-U Bath time collection and have plenty more ideas up our sleeve for 2015, so as we like to say “Watch this space”

Got any ideas for us? We’d love to hear them, please feel free to add your comments below.

Mini-U’s day of filming revealed

2015 is well and truly here and we are expecting a great year with Mini-U for kids!

If you missed the action, at the end of last year Mini-U Bathtime became stars for the day, along with our fabulous actors Rosie, Betsy, Sam and Jacob.

The actors

Mini-U set up a film studio for the day in the very lovely Lainston House hotel and had some great fun filming our new Mini-U production.

The aim: to show off the Mini-U bathtime collection in all its glory, allowing consumers to better understand the products and see how kids can enjoy their bathtime experience more than ever before!

Screenshot 2015-01-14 11.20.27 Screenshot 2015-01-14 11.20.51

Our film crew came equipped with some very cool slow motion cameras enabling us to catch the explosions of colour and action produced by fizzing bath bombs, bath paint soaps and bubbles.

Thanks to our great little models who captured the fun, laughter and excitement that children experience through Mini-U Bathtime for kids.

We are delighted with the finished results and can’t wait to release the video to our stores and salons across the UK.

For all those that missed our video launch just follow the link below and watch the action unfold…..

Comments are always welcome, we would love to hear your feed back!
